The approval came during an ECNEC meeting held on Tuesday (June 16) at the Cabinet Division conference room in the Secretariat. Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tareque Rahman presided over the meeting. Among the approved projects, three are new, and two are revised.

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, several other relevant ministers including those from industries and commerce, and top government officials were present at the meeting.

Among the approved projects is the ‘Supporting Infrastructure Project for Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone’ under the Prime Minister’s Office. Additionally, three projects under the Ministry of Water Resources received approval. These include the Rehabilitation of Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage, and Irrigation Project in Feni (Phase 1), the Karatoya River System Development Project, and the Padma River Bank Protection Project in Mirpur and Kumarkhali areas of Kushtia (1st revised).

These include the construction of airmen barracks at the Air Force Base in Cox’s Bazar, the establishment of a Navy School and College in Savar, the development of educational infrastructure at Shamshernagar Air Force Station, and the fourth phase of pagoda-based pre-primary and Tripitaka-based religious education activities.
